Step 1 Submit an application to UNSW Foundation Year

  • Include your English test results (IELTS or TOEFL) and your School results. For detailed information about the UNSW Foundation Year please, and application forms see: www.ufy.unsw.edu.au.
Step 2 UNSW Foundation Year assessment for a Pathway Package Offer

  • UNSW Foundation Year will assess your English level and will recommend the minimum English tuition you require prior to starting your Foundation Year course.
Step 3 UNSW Foundation Year sends you a Pathway Package Offer

  • Your formal UNSW Foundation Year offer, indicating the minimum number of week’s English tuition you must take with the Pathway Package Offer, will be sent to you.
Step 4 Accept Pathway Package offer

  • Complete and sign the Reply form in the pre - program English offer letter.
  • Send form to UNSW Foundation Year.
Step 5 Institute of Languages

  • The Institute of Languages will send you an Offer Letter (Invoice) for the English tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover.
Step 6 You apply for PVA - Country Assessment Levels AL 3 & 4 only

  • Submit your Institute of Languages offer and UNSW FOUNDATION YEAR offer to the Australian Embassy for a Provisional Visa Assessment (PVA) - necessary for visa Assessment Levels 3 & 4 countries only, details at: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1219i.pdf
Step 7 Payment to Institute of Languages and Foundation Studies

  • Send to UNSW Global Student Services
    • the payment for your English and Foundation Studies programs
    • Overseas Student Health Cover payment.
  • Attach your PVA approval letter if applicable (AL 3 & 4)
Step 8 Institute of Languages & UNSW Foundation Year Admissions issue eCOEs (Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment)

  • The Institute of Languages issues an eCOE for your English course.
  • UNSW FOUNDATION YEAR issues an eCOE for your Academic Program.
Step 9 Apply for your visa

  • When you have received both eCOEs apply for your visa.
  • When your visa is granted it will cover the English course and your UNSW Academic Program.
  • Make your travel & accommodation arrangements.
Step 10 Satisfying English Requirements
 
  • When you have successfully completed your English course the Institute of Languages informs UNSW Foundation Year.
  • UNSW Foundation Year mails to your current address the enrolment instructions for your Foundation Year Program.
  • Extend your medical cover at a Medibank office.
  • Attend the enrolment day indicated in your enrolment instructions.
