General Proficiency EnglishOur General Proficiency English program is structured to provide exactly what you need to improve all your English Language skills, but especially speaking and listening and for any situation.
English for Business CommunicationThe English for Business Communication course is for people with intermediate to advanced level English. It is specifically designed to develop your spoken and written skills if you work in business, or are planning to do so. These courses also provide an excellent preparatory course if you wish to study in a business course in Australia. Lecturers from UNSW and speakers from the private business community present sessions on specific areas covered during the program.
English for LawEnglish for Law is an effective, interactive 10-week course designed to provide students who have a background in law with the experience and skills necessary to sit the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) exam successfully, while also developing their general English skills in a legal context. After completing this course you may wish to incorporate an internship with a local Sydney-based law firm.
English for Medical/Health ProfessionalsEnglish for Medical/Health Professionals is an intensive course for students who have upper-intermediate to advanced level English skills.
English and Accounting Skills for MigrantsEnglish and Accounting Skills for Migrants course is for students who have an upper intermediate level of English and who have a background in or an interest in Accounting and are interested in gaining work experience in an Australian context.
Occupational English Test (OET) Preparation for Overseas Health ProfessionalsOur OET Preparation courses are suitable for overseas trained health professionals who need to study English in a medical context in order to improve their communication skills to pass the Australian Medical Council's Occupational English Test (OET) and to ultimately achieve professional registration to practice in Australia. Courses focus on developing language skills in the Australian medical context including preparation for the OET.
Workplace English ProgramThe Workplace English Program is available free to all staff of the University of New South Wales who would like to improve their English language and communication skills for the workplace. Although the courses are aimed at non-native English speakers, staff whose first language is English are also welcome to attend appropriate classes. Specifically designed programs for departments and units can also be developed.
PEAT Preparation for Overseas Trained TeachersOur PEAT Workshops offers training to overseas qualified teachers who are intending to sit the PEAT test. This series of workshops is held over the four Saturday mornings preceding most of the PEAT tests. Each workshop concentrates on a different language skill assessed in the test: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Cambridge Exam PreparationThe Cambridge Exam Preparation courses prepares students for the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) and Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) examinations which test students proficiency in reading, writing, English in use, listening and speaking.
Test of English for International Communication TOEICThe Institute conducts the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) for business English purposes, with preparation provided within the intermediate English for Business Communication Course.
Tour guides language proficiency testThe Language Proficiency Test for Tour Guides is for people interested in becoming tour guides and for those who are already working as tour guides and are seeking accreditation in a language other than English. The Institute of Languages conducts language tests for Tour Guides in over 40 languages.
