The UNSW Institute of Languages is the leading language testing institution for commercial purposes in Australia.

We design and conduct proficiency tests in over 70 languages for corporate clients or government agencies who wish to have the language skills of employees or propsective employees assessed and accredited.

The UNSW Institute of Languages designs language tests to suit the needs of different organisations.

Our clients include:

Centrelink Language Proficiency Test - is used to assesses the language skills of current and prospective Centrelink staff located in over 450 sites across Australia.

Language Aide Proficiency Test for Councils - is used by NSW Local Government Councils to assesses employees’ ability to communicate with customers in languages other than English (LOTEs).

Language Aide Proficiency Test for AAMI - this test assesses employees’ ability to communicate with customers in languages other than English (LOTEs).

Tour Guides Test - is for tour guides or prospective tour guides who wish to have their proficiency level.

The Foreign Language Tour Guiding Language Proficiency Test for the Sydney Opera House- this test assess the proficiency level of tour guides or prospective tour guides.

The SBS Radio Language Proficiency Test - The Institute of Languages designed this test in conjunction with SBS Radio for the purpose of assessing the language proficiency in languages other than English, of radio broadcasters. The test is conducted at the request of SBS Radio.

NSW Department of Education and Training - The Institute Languages designed this test in conjunction with the NSW DET for the assessment of Community Languages Teachers, in languages other than English. Tests are conducted three times per year.

The Multilingual Language Accreditation Test (Work and Income Contact Centre) for the New Zealand Ministry of Social Development - the purpose of the Test is to assess employees’ ability to communicate with customers in languages other than English (LOTEs).
