How about a career as a flight attendant?.....Or
as a translator or interpreter?.....Or as a language teacher to adults? Languages can open many doors.
Starting your study at the Institute of Languages can be the beginning
of achieving your ambition. However, in order to gain a level of fluency
to work with your language, you will need to accelerate your learning.
This can be achieved in several ways. One way is to travel to the country
where the language is spoken. You could do a language course in country
or even stay longer term and work in an area such as English teaching. Have you thought about becoming a language teacher?
At the institute of languages we can give you a qualification to teach
English overseas. And when you return to Australia, you can qualify to
teach the language you have become fluent in to adults. If you are interested
in discussing a teaching qualification further please call (02) 9385
0374 and ask about the Language Teacher Education Department. Thinking of working in the airline industry?
Languages are becoming more and more a requirement for some jobs in the
airline industry. For example, some of our students are considering a
career in the airline industry, either in Australia or flying long haul.
If you are interested in working in the airline industry and would like more information on our QANTAS/AUSTRALIAN AIRLINES Language Proficiency Test, please visit http://www.lang.unsw.edu.au/languages/qantas/index.htm or call the Institute of Languages on (02) 9385 0374.
Thinking of becoming a translator or interpreter?
There are many opportunities in this field working for translation agencies,
for government departments with migrant clients, for interpreting services
in the health industry or for companies dealing with overseas clientele.
Once you have achieved fluency in the language and your ambition is to
become a translator or interpreter, you may wish to take the National
Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) examinations
in translation or interpreting. You are then qualified to work in the
profession. You can take our NAATI preparation course to prepare for these
examinations. If you are interested in discussing a career in interpreting
or translation, please call the Head of Department of Modern Languages
on (02) 9385 0374 . |BACK TO TOP| |
