How to Enrol

AMEP Eligible and Fee Paying Students

The University of New South Wales Institute of Languages Migrant English Programme conducts regular placement assessments for new students who are AMEP eligible or fee paying. All interested students need to book for an assessment before enrolments are accepted.

Assessments are conducted every week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1.00pm and on alternate Wednesday evenings from 5.00pm. For people unable to attend at these times, an individual assessment can be arranged at another convenient time. All assessments are conducted at 223 Anzac Parade Kensington.
[Location Map]

The assessment involves the completion of reading and writing tasks followed by an interview with the Educational Counsellor or an assessment teacher. During the interview learning goals are discussed and a provisional Learning Plan is devised for each student( AMEP eligible students). At the end of the interview students are offered a place in the most suitable course.

At the interview all AMEP eligible students are provided with information about the Adult Migrant English Programme (AMEP) and related services including childcare. If there is no suitable course, or if a student is not AMEP eligible, information about other study options is provided.

Please note:
Payments for fee paying students will only be accepted after an assessment interview.

There are no course fees for AMEP eligible migrants. Please bring your passport/visa to check your eligibility when registering for a course.
