What are the Cambridge Examinations
The Cambridge Examinations are recognised internationally as examinations of proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in English. They are also acknowledged by employers in many countries and some tertiary institutions in the UK recognise the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) and Proficiency Certificate in English (CPE) for university entrance. To be eligible for the examinations, candidates must be 17 years of age or above. English should not be their mother tongue.

The Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
This is an upper intermediate level exam. Candidates aim for a sound knowledge of all the basic structures and functions of the language and the ability to use and understand the language with a reasonable degree of accuracy and fluency.

The Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
This is an advanced level exam and is aimed at a level between the First Certificate and the Proficiency Examination. It offers a high level final qualification in the language to those wishing to use English in their jobs. The emphasis is on real world tasks. Students need to be able to use the language fluently in both formal and informal contexts.

The Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English (CPE)
This is a very advanced level examination. Candidates should have a sound knowledge of all complex grammatical areas, and should demonstrate a sensitivity to register and tone. This is a demanding examination and students need to have a mature approach to learning and a wide general knowledge.

Cambridge Advanced English
Advanced students can further improve their language competence in all the skill areas and take home an internationally recognized certificate which will give tham an advantage in their future careers or academic studies. The 25 hour a week course includes a structured preparation for the exam using a CAE textbook, thorough knowledge of the exam question types, practice tests and interviews practice. Five hours a week of self-study in our well-resourced Individual Learning Centre are included, as well as daily homework.
