This certificate course has been designed by the University of New South Wales Institute of Languages (UNSWIL) for teachers who have not had any formal training in the teaching of languages other than English (LOTE) and wish to increase their knowledge and improve their methods of teaching LOTE.

This certificate is recognized by the NSW Department of Education and Training as the minimum qualification for teachers in the Community languages program.   It may confer advanced standing in other courses offered by UNSWIL, depending on qualifications obtained previously.

Presenters are all qualified teacher trainers with community language backgrounds and include staff from UNSWIL and the Department of Modern Languages, University of New South Wales Institute of Languages. At the end of the course, provided all attendance and assessment requirements have been met, participants will receive a certificate issued by UNSWIL.

COST
2008: The cost to community languages school teachers is $710 including GST as the NSW DET has advised that there will be no subsidised courses for this year. The certificate for this course will still be accredited by the NSW DET.
